Frank Griffiths Associates, the Chartered Institute of
Purchasing and Supply Assessor for the Latham Review, has identified
many innovative but simple ways of improving the quality and value obtainable
from the Construction Industry. Their report 'Productivity and Costs'
set the target of reducing construction costs by 30% in real terms by
the year 2000. This target was included in Sir Michael Latham's report "Constructing the Team" and its feasibility was confirmed recently by the Construction Industry Board. To obtain the full benefits, this newly formed Industry/Government body strongly recommends that a client's first step should be to appoint a Construction Procurement Adviser |

Most private or commercial clients are first time buyers. Even seasoned
project sponsors are often unaware of the opportunities for greatly enhanced
value and of the many traps for the unsuspecting. Government recognising that getting the "best value" needs
knowledge, skill and judgement, intends to make the public sectors "world
class" buyers of construction industry services. No longer is cheapest automatically the best
value! Frank Griffiths Associates offer the completely independent advice and training necessary to achieve the great improvements in value obtainable. |
|
The opportunities can be found in Architects' and Engineers' practices; in Main Contractors' Procurement and Management Systems; in Sub-Contractors' businesses and in Material and Equipment Supplies - the industry's supply chain. |
|
CLIENTS HAVE THE MOST TO GAIN through improved practices. The maximum benefit is available only by considering the wide range of options available before deciding the procurement route for your project. |
